Traunwalchen in short words
Traunwalchen is situated in the heart of the Chiemgau at the river Traun.
Surrounded by forests and meadows Traunwalchen is a village with high recreational value as well as a scene with a large number of cultural activities.
Traunwalchen was first mentioned in the "Notitia Arnonis" in the year 790 as a village of romans. In medieval times Traunwalchen was a place of pilgrimage. In 1805 the church in Traunwalchen became an independent parish. 1818 the political borough Traunwalchen was founded. 1965 was the year of the foundation of the music school. 1978 Traunwalchen became part of the city of Traunreut.
